Healing Power
Why do cats have a therapeutic and beneficial effect on humans?
According to scientific studies over the last 25 years and countless reports by cat owners, cats have a positive and healing effect on the human organism.
Two phenomena were observed and experienced, which enriched the lives of the owners valuable:
Caressing of a cat
Caressing a cat can help you to feel more relaxed!
When you caress a cat, your brain for example releases OXYTOCIN, which is known as the “kuddle hormone”.
The release of Oxytocin helps you to feel more relaxed and contented.
Cuddling up with your cat can also lower your blood pressure. What also helps to prevent heart attacks.
Even talking to them has been shown to help you relax according to some studies. (www.calmmoment.com)
Having a cat around you can actually trigger the release of calming chemicals in your body which lower your stress and anxiety levels.
Also watching cat videos boosts viewer’s energy and positive emotions while decreasing negative feelings.
Cats mean fewer allergies (for your kids), because some studies say that: “high pet exposure early in life appears to protect against not only pet allergy but also other types of common allergies, such as allergy to dust mites, ragweed and grass.”
Purring of a Cat
A cats purr creates vibrations at a frequenzy of 20-140 Hz, and studies have shown that frequencies in the 18-35 Hz range have a positive effect on joint mobility after injury. Their purring helps to heal bones, tendons and muscles.

Studies figured out, that cats are impacting our health in a positive aspect. If there is a cat in the room, the humans are feeling themselves better immediately. The purring of a cat helps to make you feel calm down. Stress will be released.
- Cats are able to heal humans
- Cats reduce the level of stress
- Cats are emphatics
In which cases cats can help:
Some studies have shown that endorphins (happy hormones) are released when cats are petted. At the same time the production of stress hormones decreases. The purring sound of the cat relaxes our body.
Increases blood pressure due to stress. Also increases the risk of developing cardiovascular problems. So, reducing stress also lowers the risk of heart disease. Studies show that cat owners are 30% less risky to have heart attacks
The house tiger purrs at a frequency of 25 Hz. So the vibrations of the purr act like a pulsating magnetic field. The formation of new bones substance is accelerated.
Cat owners are less likely to get ill by allergies. The contact with the house tigers also has a positive effect on children´s health. And the children take responsibility for the cat which has also some psychelogic benefits. They develop their personality faster and have better social skills.
A cat immediately senses the emotions felt by it’s human friend. They react sensitively to the feelings and tries to help (coming closer with the head, lick your hair and at least in some way catch your attention). Cats are also able to recognize illness or the approaching death of a person by a change in body odor.
Children with ADHD tend to be calmer around cats.
People with dementia respond better to their environment when a cat is around. The number of interactions increases.
If you have a stomach ache or back pain, your cat’s fur acts like a hot water bottle. The purr relaxes the muscles. The pain subsides.
In a study by a german professor who accompanied 150 people in severe life crises such as separation, illness or unemployment, 50 percent of the participants lived with a cat in the household. 2/3 of the people who did not share their home with a cat had to seek help of a therapist during the course of the study due to psychological problems. Among cat owners, 0% required a psychotherapist.
Cats are professional therapists. They don’t need any special training to treat human. They just ARE with you….
- Cats drive away loneliness and instill a sense of love. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE !!!!
